DAY 1 - Arrival in Windhoek

Your adventure begins upon arrival in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital. After a warm welcome at the airport, we’ll transfer you to the car hire depot for your vehicle collection. Once you’ve picked up your rental car, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to acclimatise and prepare for the journey ahead.

DAY 2 to 4 - Kalahari Desert

Your journey takes you to Bagatelle Kalahari Game Lodge, located in the heart of the southern Kalahari Desert, where you'll spend three nights. The lodge caters to riders of all levels, whether you’re a seasoned equestrian or a first-time rider. On your first full day, enjoy a horseback safari through the desert landscape, where you’ll ride across vast dunes and encounter desert-adapted wildlife such as oryx, springbok, and more. The scenery, with its golden sand and rugged terrain, offers an unforgettable experience. A morning walk with the San Bushmen, on day 4, will introduce you to their ancient survival techniques, offering an enriching cultural experience.

DAY 5 to 7 - Sossusvlei

Today you make your way to the Namib Desert. Upon arrival at Wolwedans Desert Lodge, later in the day, you’ll have the opportunity to embark on a sundowner nature drive, soaking in the dramatic desert landscape as the sun sets. Spend the next three nights here, where each day brings new adventures. Day two, has you setting out on a full-day horseback safari, exploring the rugged beauty of the desert. The ride, including a picnic lunch, takes around six hours, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the serene surroundings. On day three, you have the opportunity to visit the iconic Sossusvlei dunes, with the chance to climb Dune 45 for panoramic views or take an early morning hike to Big Daddy, the tallest dune in the area, to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Namib Desert.

DAY 7 & 8 - Swakopmund

Head towards the coast to Swakopmund for two nights, where a wide array of thrilling activities awaits. Experience the coastal wonders with a catamaran cruise to spot dolphins and seals, or challenge the dunes with sand boarding. A Living Desert Tour offers a fascinating look at the local wildlife that thrives in the harsh desert, while quad biking delivers an adrenaline-packed ride across vast dunes.

DAY 9 & 10 - Damaraland

Next, make your way to Damaraland, where you’ll spend two nights, nestled in the heart of the rugged desert. On day two, you'll embark on a guided desert elephant tracking excursion, by open 4x4 vehicle. Tracking these incredible creatures through the wild, rocky terrain is an unforgettable experience. With the guidance of your expert safari guide, you'll learn about the desert’s unique ecosystem and the vital role the elephants play in this harsh environment.

DAY 12 to 14 - Etosha National Park

Your journey continues to Etosha National Park for three nights, offering two full days to explore this wildlife-rich gem. Self-drive through the park's vast plains, waterholes, and salt pans, where you're likely to encounter the Big Four—lions, elephants, rhinos, and leopards—along with a variety of other animals. With two full days of exploration, you'll have ample time to capture incredible photographs of the park’s diverse wildlife. If you'd like a break from driving, guided game drives are available to provide deeper insights into Etosha's ecosystems and animal behaviours.

Day 15 & 16 - Waterberg

The final leg of your journey takes you to the Waterberg Plateau, where you'll spend two nights at Kambaku Safari Lodge. On your full day here, you’ll head out for an unforgettable horseback ride, offering expansive views of the plateau and the surrounding plains. The lodge’s horseback riding experiences cater to all levels of riders, so whether you're a beginner or a more experienced rider, you’ll enjoy the ride comfortably and safely. As you explore the grassy savannas, you may spot giraffes, antelope, and even rhino. The Waterberg offers a serene and diverse environment, perfect for connecting with nature and experiencing Namibia’s tranquil beauty.

DAY 17 - Return to Windhoek

After a final breakfast at the lodge, you’ll drive back to Windhoek for your departure, with unforgettable memories of your horseback safari through Namibia's wild and varied landscapes.

Can I bring my own riding gear?

Most lodges provide horses and tack, but you’re welcome to bring your own riding gear if preferred. It’s always best to confirm with the lodge beforehand.

What kind of wildlife will I encounter on horseback?

Depending on the location, you may see desert-adapted elephants, antelope, giraffes, and a variety of bird life, all from a unique and thrilling horseback perspective.

In Namibia, the official currency is the Namibian Dollar (NAD), which is pegged to the South African Rand (ZAR), and the Rand is also widely accepted.

In Botswana, the local currency is the Botswana Pula (BWP), though South African Rand may be accepted in some places.

In Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe), the Zimbabwean Dollar (ZWL) is used, but US Dollars, South African Rand, and other currencies are commonly accepted, especially in tourist areas.

In South Africa, the official currency is the South African Rand (ZAR). It is widely accepted across the country and can also be used in Namibia, where the Namibian Dollar (NAD) is pegged to it.

Travel Requirements for Adults with Children Under 18

Adults travelling with children under 18 must provide the child’s original Birth Certificate and a consent form if only one parent is accompanying the child. Failure to present these documents may result in denied entry.

Visa

Unfortunately, we do not offer visa application services. Whether you require a visa depends on your nationality and your destination. If your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you’re visiting, you will need to apply for a visa before your departure. Additionally, some countries may require an invitation letter for the Namibian Embassy to process a tourist visa. If needed, guests can contact us for assistance with obtaining the invitation letter.
