Itinerary

Departure/Return Location:

Hosea Kutako International Airport

DAY 1 - Arrival in Windhoek

Touch down in Namibia’s capital, where your shuttle driver will be waiting to transfer you to the car hire depot for vehicle collection. Once you're behind the wheel, make your way to a nearby shopping centre to stock up on supplies and fill up the tank. Check in at your cosy B&B and use the rest of the day to unwind or explore Windhoek at your own pace — think laid-back cafés, curio shops, and local landmarks dotted around the city centre.

DAY 2 & 3 - Okonjima Nature Reserve

Leave the buzz of the city behind as you journey north to Okonjima, a private nature reserve tucked between scrubland hills and acacia trees. After settling into your spacious campsite, kick back and take in the bushveld sounds around your firepit. It’s the perfect spot for some father-and-son bonding under Namibia’s wide-open skies.
The next day, join a guided afternoon feeding tour with the AfriCat Foundation. You’ll head out in an open game vehicle in search of leopards and other rehabilitated predators, learning about their conservation work along the way. It's a rare chance to witness these elusive cats up close — a thrilling and meaningful start to your adventure.

DAY 4 & 5 - Etosha National Park

After breakfast, you’ll head further north to Etosha National Park—one of Africa’s greatest wildlife havens. Your next two nights will be spent at a campsite within the park, placing you right in the heart of the action.
Settle into camp and take an afternoon game drive to the nearest waterholes, where animals gather as the day cools. On Day 5, rise early and explore the park at your own pace. Etosha’s expansive salt pan, vast open plains, and abundance of wildlife—including elephants, lions, rhinos, and giraffes—make for an unforgettable safari experience. Return to camp in the evening to share stories under the stars, surrounded by the sounds of the wild.

DAY 6 to 8 - Divundu

Today you’ll journey northeast to the lush riverine region of Divundu, where the Okavango River flows gently past papyrus-lined banks. Your next three nights will be spent camping at a peaceful riverside site—an ideal base for adventure and downtime.
Over the following two days, you’ll head out on thrilling tiger fishing excursions with a local guide. These fierce freshwater predators offer a real test of skill and patience—perfect for a father and son challenge. Whether you're casting lines at sunrise or swapping fish tales at sunset, the experience is bound to be a highlight.
There’s also time to relax at camp, spot hippos and crocs from the riverbank, or take a slow boat cruise if you feel like something calmer. This leg of your journey brings just the right mix of excitement and serenity.

DAY 9 & 10 - Waterberg Plateau

After packing up camp, you’ll start the return journey with a stop at the striking Waterberg Plateau. Your final two nights are spent at a comfortable lodge nestled at the base of this dramatic red sandstone formation.
The Waterberg area offers plenty to explore—lace up your boots for a guided nature walk through the reserve, spotting rare antelope species and soaking up sweeping views from the top of the plateau. It’s also a great spot for game drives or simply winding down after the more rugged parts of the journey.
With good food, wildlife all around, and time to reflect on the trip, the Waterberg provides the perfect setting to round off your father-and-son adventure.

DAY 11 - Return to Windhoek

After breakfast, you’ll make your way back to Windhoek, taking in the last glimpses of Namibia’s open landscapes.
Drop off your vehicle at the car hire depot no later than 16H00 and catch the shuttle to the airport, marking the end of an unforgettable father-and-son adventure.
