Hosea Kutako International Airport

DAY 1 - Windhoek

Welcome to Namibia! Upon arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, your car hire company will send a shuttle driver to transfer you to town for vehicle handover. After stocking up on fuel and supplies, head to your cozy B&B for the night. Take some time to unwind and acclimatize before your adventure begins tomorrow!

DAY 2 & 3 - Sossusvlei

Embark on a scenic self-drive safari to Sossusvlei, where you'll encounter Namibia's ever-changing landscapes and diverse wildlife. Along the way, enjoy the sight of oryx and meerkats, and capture stunning photographs of the rugged terrain and towering sand dunes. On day two, rise early to witness the changing colours of the dunes, with highlights including Dune 45, Big Daddy, and the surreal Deadvlei, where ancient trees stand in a desolate clay pan.

DAY 4 & 5 - Swakopmund

En route to Swakopmund, stop at Solitaire for a break, where you can refuel, grab a famous Apfel Strudel, and stock up on essentials before continuing your journey. In Swakopmund, enjoy a variety of activities, from sand-boarding and quad biking through the desert to exploring the town's promenade and relaxing by the ocean. Don't miss the boat tours to see seals and dolphins or the eerie shipwrecks along the Skeleton Coast.

DAY 6 & 7 - Damaraland

Travel north along the Skeleton Coast to Damaraland, where you'll explore the Cape Cross Seal Reserve, the White Lady rock painting, Twyfelfontein Rock Engravings, Petrified Forest, and Burnt Mountain, while immersing yourself in Damara culture at the Living Museum. During your two-night stay, embark on a guided game drive to search for desert elephants, gaining insights into their adaptations and conservation while enjoying breathtaking views and a light lunch in the wilderness.

DAY 8 - Grootberg Plateau

As you continue your self-drive adventure from Damaraland to the Grootberg Plateau, prepare to be captivated by the breathtaking scenery that unfolds before you. Journey along winding roads that offer panoramic views of the rugged landscape, with towering cliffs and expansive plains stretching as far as the eye can see. Keep your camera ready to capture the dramatic vistas and unique rock formations that characterize this remote and rugged terrain.

DAY 9 to 11 - Etosha National Park

Travel from the Grootberg Plateau to Etosha National Park, where you'll encounter diverse landscapes and wildlife, with thrilling game drives offering opportunities to spot elephants, lions, and more. Spend the day exploring watering holes, where herds of animals gather, and keep an eye out for rare rhinos. Enjoy peaceful moments under the stars at your accommodation, then end your stay by capturing your final wildlife sightings before departing.

Day 12 & 13 - Waterberg

Journey from Etosha to the Waterberg Plateau, where diverse ecosystems and breathtaking scenery await. Keep an eye out for wildlife, including rhinos and buffaloes, as you explore lookout points and immerse yourself in cultural experiences. Enjoy activities like guided hikes, nature walks, mountain biking, and horseback riding, while also taking in the local traditions and landscapes that make the area so unique.

DAY 14 - Return to Windhoek

As your self-drive safari draws to an end, you'll navigate from the Waterberg Plateau area back to Windhoek. Remember to return the vehicle no later than 16H00, ensuring ample time for vehicle check-in and transfer to the airport. We'll arrange a transfer for you 2 hours prior to your departure flight, ensuring a seamless journey home after your unforgettable Namibian adventure.

Can I get out of the vehicle inside Etosha National Park to take photos?

For your safety, visitors are not allowed to exit their vehicles in Etosha National Park, except at designated rest areas and campsites. You'll still be able to capture incredible wildlife photos from the comfort of your vehicle while enjoying the park's stunning landscapes.

Is fuel available inside Etosha National Park?

Fuel is not always available inside Etosha, so it's recommended to refuel before entering the park. Make sure to stock up on fuel in nearby towns like Outjo or Otavi to ensure a smooth journey through the park.

In Namibia, the official currency is the Namibian Dollar (NAD), which is pegged to the South African Rand (ZAR), and the Rand is also widely accepted.

In Botswana, the local currency is the Botswana Pula (BWP), though South African Rand may be accepted in some places.

In Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe), the Zimbabwean Dollar (ZWL) is used, but US Dollars, South African Rand, and other currencies are commonly accepted, especially in tourist areas.

Travel Requirements for Adults with Children Under 18

Adults travelling with children under 18 must provide the child’s original Birth Certificate and a consent form if only one parent is accompanying the child. Failure to present these documents may result in denied entry.

If your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you’re visiting, you will need to apply for a visa before your departure. Additionally, some countries may require an invitation letter for the Namibian Embassy to process a tourist visa.
