Why Travel During the Low Season
Namibia’s low season (December 2024 – April 2025) comes with its own unique advantages. While the rains are more frequent, they transform the landscape into a lush paradise, offering photographers and nature lovers perfect conditions for dramatic skies and vibrant scenery. The occasional shower adds to the magic, creating spectacular sunsets and incredible contrasts across the land. Wildlife remains abundant, making this an ideal time to explore Namibia.
Day 1 – Arrival in Windhoek
Arrive in Namibia’s vibrant capital, Windhoek, where you’ll be warmly greeted by your guide and transferred to your cosy B&B. After freshening up, embark on a guided city and township tour in the afternoon. Discover the unique blend of modern city life and cultural heritage through visits to local landmarks and neighbourhoods. In the evening, enjoy dinner at one of Windhoek’s top restaurants (dinner at guests’ own expense).
Day 2 & 3 – Journey to the Kalahari
We set off towards the mesmerising red sands of the Kalahari Desert for a two-night stay. After settling in, enjoy a scenic sundowner game drive, where the desert glows under the setting sun. The following morning, join a fascinating guided walk with the San Bushmen, learning about their ancient survival skills and connection to the land. The rest of the day is at leisure, with optional additional game drives available.
Day 4 & 5 – Exploring Sossusvlei
From the Kalahari, travel to the iconic Namib Desert for two nights near Sossusvlei. Explore towering dunes such as Dune 45 and Big Daddy, as well as the surreal beauty of Deadvlei with its stark pan and ancient trees. On your second day, enjoy a relaxed picnic in the shade, or for a truly unforgettable experience, take to the skies in a hot air balloon at sunrise for sweeping views of the desert.
Day 6 & 7 – Swakopmund: Coastal Charm and Adventure
We head west to the coastal town of Swakopmund for a two-night stay. After an orientation tour of the town, known for its German colonial charm, enjoy time at leisure. On the following day, choose from a variety of optional activities such as sand boarding, quad biking in the desert, or a peaceful catamaran cruise in Walvis Bay to spot dolphins and seals.
Day 8 & 9 – Damaraland & Desert Elephant Tracking
Continue north into the rugged landscapes of Damaraland. En route, you may stop at the Cape Cross Seal Colony to witness thousands of Cape fur seals. After settling into your lodge, relax for the evening. The next morning, set out on an exciting desert-adapted elephant tracking excursion, learning how these extraordinary animals survive in this arid region.
Day 10 & 11 – Etosha National Park
Journey to Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s premier wildlife reserves. Spend two days on game drives, seeking out elephants, lions, rhinos, giraffes, and more at the park’s many waterholes. En route to Etosha, you may also visit a Himba orphanage for an insightful introduction to the Himba people and their traditions.
Day 12 & 13 – Waterberg Plateau
Leaving Etosha behind, travel to the striking Waterberg Plateau. On arrival, take part in a sundowner game drive to observe wildlife in the cooler evening air. The following day, explore the plateau on a guided excursion, home to species such as black and white rhinos, eland, roan antelope, and an array of birdlife. The dramatic scenery and unique ecosystem make this stop especially memorable.
Day 14 – Return to Windhoek
Your Namibian adventure concludes today. After breakfast, we return to Windhoek with a stop at the Okahandja Woodcarvers Market for some last-minute souvenirs. Your guide will then transfer you to the airport for your onward journey.
