Tuli Block
The Tuli Block in Botswana is a hidden gem that offers a unique safari experience distinct from the country’s more famous parks. Located in the easternmost corner of Botswana, along the borders with South Africa and Zimbabwe, this privately owned collection of game reserves spans approximately 8,000 square kilometers along the Limpopo River.
Known as the “Land of Giants,” the Tuli Block features massive baobab trees, towering sandstone cliffs, and large herds of elephants. The diverse landscape includes lush riverine forests, open savannahs, and rocky outcrops, providing a stunning backdrop for wildlife viewing.
Wildlife in the Tuli Block is abundant, with elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs among the many species found here. The area is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, home to over 350 species, including the rare Pel’s fishing owl and African fish eagle.
As a private reserve, the Tuli Block offers exclusive and intimate safari experiences, free from the crowds often found in more popular parks. Game drives, walking safaris, and horseback safaris are conducted in a tranquil environment, often with the feeling of having the wilderness to yourself.
Rich in history, the Tuli Block is dotted with ancient archaeological sites, including San rock art and the remains of old settlements. The region offers adventure activities like mountain biking and guided walks, and the scenic Limpopo River provides spots for birdwatching and seeing hippos and crocodiles.
Accessible from both Botswana and South Africa, the Tuli Block combines dramatic landscapes, rich wildlife, and cultural history, making it a perfect destination for a serene and adventurous safari experience.
