Hosea Kutako International Airport / Kasane International Airport

DAY 1 - Windhoek

Welcome to Namibia! When you arrive at Hosea Kutako International Airport, a shuttle from your car hire company will take you to town for your vehicle handover. After refueling and gathering supplies, head to your comfortable B&B for the night. Relax and acclimate before your adventure starts tomorrow!

DAY 2 & 3 - Waterberg

Drive from Windhoek to the Waterberg region, where you’ll experience diverse landscapes, striking sandstone cliffs, and abundant wildlife such as rhinos, giraffes, and antelopes. Explore hiking trails, enjoy cultural encounters with the Herero people, and take in stunning sunsets. On day two, visit the Cheetah Conservation Fund and AfriCat to learn about efforts to conserve cheetahs, lions, and leopards, gaining insight into the rehabilitation of these iconic predators.

DAY 4 - Grootfontein

The drive from Waterberg to Grootfontein covers approximately 200 kilometers, taking you through rural areas and open savannas. Along the way, consider stopping in small towns like Otavi. Grootfontein itself is a charming town and a great base for exploring nearby attractions, such as the Hoba Meteorite. Enjoy the journey and the diverse landscapes.

DAY 5 & 6 - Rundu

On your drive from Grootfontein to Rundu, travel through savanna landscapes, passing wildlife and local villages. In Rundu, situated by the Okavango River, enjoy vibrant markets, cultural experiences, and river views. On day two, explore the area with activities such as boat cruises on the Okavango River, spotting hippos and crocodiles, cultural village tours, fishing, bird watching, and game drives. Relax with spa treatments and check with your lodge for specific seasonal activities.

DAY 7 & 8 - Nguma Island

Today, you will travel to Shakawe, cross into Botswana, and check into Nguma Island Lodge, nestled in the Okavango Delta. Enjoy boat safaris spotting hippos, crocodiles, and birds, or explore the lush delta on guided walks. On day two, continue to discover the Delta with more boat safaris, guided nature walks, fishing, or bird watching. Alternatively, relax and soak in the tranquil surroundings at the lodge.

DAY 9 - Maun

Continuing your safari from Nguma Island Lodge to Maun takes you through more of Botswana’s diverse landscapes. The drive, offers a transition from the lush waters of the Okavango Delta to the drier areas around Maun.

As you approach Maun, you’ll notice a shift in scenery, with open plains and scattered trees becoming more prominent. Maun is often referred to as the gateway to the Okavango Delta and is a hub for safari activities and logistics.

In Maun, you can explore the town’s markets and shops, or relax before your next adventure. The area also offers a variety of activities such as scenic flights over the delta, which provide a bird’s-eye view of the intricate waterways and wildlife.

DAY 10 & 11 - Moremi Game Reserve

Today, travel from Maun to Moremi Game Reserve, where diverse landscapes lead to a rich wildlife experience. Spot elephants, lions, and buffaloes on thrilling game drives, with bird watching opportunities amidst stunning scenery. On day two, enjoy a morning game drive, followed by a boat safari or mokoro excursion to explore the waterways. After lunch, another game drive or nature walk offers further opportunities to witness Moremi’s wildlife, culminating in a sundowner to reflect on the day’s adventures.

DAY 12 & 13 - Savuti Game Reserve

Travel from Moremi Game Reserve to Savuti Game Reserve, crossing Botswana’s varied landscapes from the lush Delta to the semi-arid Savuti region within Chobe National Park. Spot elephants, predators, and antelope species, with incredible game drives offering glimpses of the dynamic animal kingdom. On day two, start with an early morning game drive to witness active wildlife, followed by a choice of afternoon drives, guided bush walks, or cultural visits, immersing you further into Savuti's wonders.

DAY 15 & 16 - Chobe Game Reserve

From Savuti Game Reserve, journey to Chobe National Park, where you'll encounter diverse landscapes and abundant wildlife. Chobe’s river system and floodplains are renowned for their large elephant herds and incredible game viewing opportunities. Settle in for thrilling safaris, including boat cruises on the Chobe River and game drives through the park. On day two, begin with a morning game drive to spot elephants, lions, and buffaloes, followed by a relaxing boat cruise to observe hippos, crocodiles, and birds. Optional activities like cultural visits or extra game viewing rounds off your day.

DAY 17 & 18 - Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

On your final day in Chobe, skip the lengthy border crossing with a seamless road transfer directly to Victoria Falls, where you’ll enjoy a hassle-free journey to your next adventure. In Victoria Falls, witness the majestic waterfall from various viewpoints, take a Zambezi River cruise, or embark on thrilling activities like white-water rafting, bungee jumping, or a helicopter flight for aerial views of the falls. Game drives and cultural tours also provide unique experiences, ensuring your time in Victoria Falls is unforgettable.

DAY 19 - End of Tour

As your self-drive adventure concludes, we've arranged a transfer to either Kasane or Victoria Falls airport for your onward journey. We recommend arriving at the airport at least 2 hours before your departure flight to ensure a smooth check-in process.

Yes, Victoria Falls is not only about the waterfall—there are also opportunities to spot wildlife on boat cruises along the Zambezi River, as well as on game drives in nearby national parks.

What currency is used in Zimbabwe and Botswana?

In Zimbabwe, the US dollar (USD) is widely accepted, while in Botswana, the local currency is the Pula (BWP). Make sure to have the appropriate currency for your purchases in each country.

In Namibia, the official currency is the Namibian Dollar (NAD), which is pegged to the South African Rand (ZAR), and the Rand is also widely accepted.

In Botswana, the local currency is the Botswana Pula (BWP), though South African Rand may be accepted in some places.

In Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe), the Zimbabwean Dollar (ZWL) is used, but US Dollars, South African Rand, and other currencies are commonly accepted, especially in tourist areas.

In South Africa, the official currency is the South African Rand (ZAR). It is widely accepted across the country and can also be used in Namibia, where the Namibian Dollar (NAD) is pegged to it.

Travel Requirements for Adults with Children Under 18

Adults travelling with children under 18 must provide the child’s original Birth Certificate and a consent form if only one parent is accompanying the child. Failure to present these documents may result in denied entry.

Visa

If your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you’re visiting, you will need to apply for a visa before your departure. Additionally, some countries may require an invitation letter for the Namibian Embassy to process a tourist visa.
