Hosea Kutako International Airport

DAY 1 - Etosha South

Your adventure begins at Hosea Kutako International Airport, where our shuttle driver will meet you. After collecting your vehicle at the car hire depot in the city, stock up on fuel and water before heading north to Etosha National Park. Staying inside the park lets you enjoy self-drive game drives, or you can pre-book guided drives at an extra cost from nearby lodges.

DAY 2 - Etosha South

Spend the day game driving through the park, stopping at watering holes to watch animals drink. With some luck, you might catch a glimpse of the endangered white or black rhinoceros. You’ll encounter herds of springbok, zebras, wild dogs, buffalo, giraffes, elephants, and lions, alongside a wealth of other wildlife, including a variety of bird and insect species.

DAY 3 - Return to Windhoek

After a final morning game drive, head back to Windhoek, stopping at the Wood Carvers Market in Okahandja for some souvenir shopping. Once you arrive in Windhoek, return your rental vehicle at the car hire depot. A transfer shuttle will be waiting to take you to the airport for your onward journey.

How far is the drive from Windhoek to Etosha?

The drive from Windhoek to Etosha National Park is approximately 400 to 450 kilometres (about 5 to 6 hours) depending on your exact starting point in Windhoek and which gate of the park you enter. The route is primarily on tarred roads, making for a relatively smooth and scenic drive.

In Namibia, the official currency is the Namibian Dollar (NAD), which is pegged to the South African Rand (ZAR), and the Rand is also widely accepted.

Adults travelling with children under 18 must provide the child’s original Birth Certificate and a consent form if only one parent is accompanying the child. Failure to present these documents may result in denied entry.

If your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you’re visiting, you will need to apply for a visa before your departure. Additionally, some countries may require an invitation letter for the Namibian Embassy to process a tourist visa.
