Things we recommend

  • Spending the first night in the capital to acclimatise and rest up before tackling the dirt roads.

Day 1: Windhoek

You will be met and welcomed at the airport by your Guide. He will transfer you to the capital where you can check into your accommodation and freshen up. With an afternoon city tour of Windhoek, we visit the Tintenpalast, Christuskirche and Reiterdenkmal. Stopping over at other points of interest and a Self help project in the Katatura township. In the evening, we enjoy a dinner together.

Day 2: Windhoek – Waterberg

After a leisurely breakfast we leave Windhoek and drive north to Okahandja. Here we can visit  a local craft market. We will visit the Okonjima nature reserver, home of the Africat foundation. Here you will have the opportunity to track free-roaming Leopard, Cheethas and spotted Hayena. On arrival, in the afternoon you have the opportunity to join an afternoon sundowner game drive.

Day 3: Waterberg – Etosha

After a early morning tracking experience, we return to the Lodge for a relaxed brunch. After we continue on to Otjiwarongo, Capital of the North. From there we head via Outjo, past numerous Cattle-farms, to the southern entrance of the Etosha National Park.

Day 4: Etosha National Park

After an early breakfast we depart for Etosha, entering at the Anderson Gate and on to Okaukejo, main camp in the park. We spend the day game-viewing at the different Waterholes, here you have the opportunity to see animals close up, like Zebras, Oryx, Springbok, Kudu, Black-faced Impala, Blu-Wildbeest, Red-Hartbeest, Giraffe, and with luck Rhino, Lions, Cheetha, Hyena and Elephant. We leave the Park in the late afternoon and return to our Lodge.

Day 5: Etosha National Park

After an early breakfast we re-enter the park where we spend the day game driving. Late afternoon we return to the lodge.

Day 6: Etosha – Twyfelfontein

After breakfast we back-track to Outjo. From there we make our way to Khorixas, the center of Damaraland. Heading to Twyfelfontein, re-knowned heritage site we will visit the Bushmen Rock-art and the Petrified Forest, trees that were deposited 250 million years ago. In the afternoon we visit the pentoglyphs at Twyfelfontein which are between 450 to 4500 years old.

Day 7: Damaraland

After an early breakfast we depart on a game drive into the dry Aba-Huab and Huab River valley, in order to search for the elusive Desert Elephants. This is an unforgettable safari experience! In the afternoon we will visit a traditional Damara village, a guided tour you will teach you about the customs and traditions of the Damara people.

Day 8: Damaraland – Swakopmund

After breakfast we leave Twyfelfontein. We will pass various Damara farms as well as the Brandberg mountain. At 2573m this is Namibias highest mountain. Along the roads are locals that offer rock crystals, tourmaline and other stones for sale. We reach the cold Atlantic Ocean at Hentiesbay and pass Wlotzkasbaken to Swakopmund. Dinner at a Restaurant.

Day 9: Swakopmund

Today you can take part in various activities. Join a boat cruise on the Walvis Bay lagoon or head out for a Living Desert Tour. For the adrenaline junkies – We can organise quad bike and dune boarding excursions! Enjoy pre-booked scenic flights over the Namib Desert, Sossusvlei or Skeleton Coast.
You have the afternoon off to enjoy at leisure, with dinner at a Restaurant.

Day 10: Swakopmund – Sossusvlei

We leave Swakopmund and visit the Welwitschia plains via the Moon valley. We make our way via the Namib Naukluft Park. Passing the plains to the Gemsbokwasser waterhole, where with a little luck we can see the Hartmann zebra, Bat-eared fox, Warthog, Oryx, Springbok and sometimes Giraffes. Through the wild Kuisib and Gaub Canyon to Solitaire, with its famous apple pie, and on to Sesriem.

Day 11: Sossusvlei

Today we get up early and head for Sossusvlei. In the heart of the Dunes, we experience the colours changing over the Namib Desert. You will have the opportunity to scale one of the higher dunes for a panoramic view over the dunes and the Dead vlei. After a late breakfast we drive back to Sesriem. We then hike into the 9m wide and 30m deep Sesriem Canyon, which has eroded into a 30 million year old Limestone conglomerate over a period of 3 million years. We return to our Lodge, for the rest of the afternoon.

Day 12: Sossusvlei – Aus

After breakfast, we drive along the edge of the Namib Desert, towards the Tiras mountains. This is one of the most beautiful landscapes of Namibia. We are on our way to Aus our next destination. In the afternoon, if time allows we will visit the Wild horses of the Namib, at the waterhole Garub.

Day 13: Kollmanskuppe

Today visit the abandoned town of Kollmanskuppe. Charles Lewala found a Diamond in 1908 which led to the Diamond rush in Deutsch Südwest Afrika. On arrival you will join a guided tour of the Ghost town. The tour will take you past the old general dealer, butchery and bowling alley. It’s difficult to imagine that there was an ice factory located in this part of the hot and dry desert so many years ago. After a sight-seeing trip to Lüderitz, visiting the Felsenkirche, Goerkehaus and Kreplinhaus we head out to Diazpoint. Here Bartlomeo Diaz the Portugese seafarer planted the Diaz Cross in 1488/89. Thereafter we return to Aus.

Day 14: Aus – Fish River Canyon

In the morning we leave Aus and drive towards Rosh Pinah. This is a zinc mine town close to the Orange River, and borders with South Africa. Along the Orange River, with its wild and beautiful Mountain scenery, you will see the Pachypodium Namaqanum, the giant Quiver trees and other specially adopted plants that survive in this harsh environment. From Aussenkehr with its large Vineyards, we follow a picturesque rout along the Mountains to Hobas, close to the Fish river Canyon.

Day 15: Fish River Canyon

After an early breakfast we depart towards the Canyon which is most spectacular in the early morning light. You are able to walk along the canyon edge towards Hikerspoint and take in the spectacular views, a photographers Mecca. We will drive along the canyon edge to different Viewpoints. We return to our Lodge at lunchtime. The afternoon is at leisure.

Day 16: Fish River Canyon– Kalahari

We leave the Fish river canyon and drive through barren grasslands to the Quiver trees. The unique Dollorite formations, also called wool sacks near Keetmanshoop are well worth visiting. We continue towards the canyon, and should reach our lodge in the afternoon. The establishments are located on the edge of the canyon and boasts with a magnificent panoramic views.

Day 17: Kalahari – Windhoek

After a relaxed breakfast, we continue towards Windhoek via Kalkrand and Rehoboth. We reach Windhoek in the early afternoon which still gives us time for last minute souvenir shopping. You will then be transferred to the Airport later in the afternoon.
